A website score is useful only when it improves the next decision.

Most free website checkers produce a long inventory of warnings. That can reveal technical work, but it often leaves a business owner with a harder question: which issue should be verified first, and how might it affect a real visitor?

We upgraded the North Growth Lab Website Growth Scanner around that decision. The report still inspects one public page, but it now separates our commercial diagnosis from independent Google measurements and then connects the findings to the customer's path through the page.

The report now uses three evidence layers.

Lab and field measurements answer different questions. Lighthouse runs a controlled diagnostic visit and helps expose reproducible implementation problems. CrUX summarizes eligible real-user experience over a trailing period, but smaller or newer sites may not have enough data to appear. The report labels these sources instead of blending them into an unexplained number.

Evidence layerWhat it measuresWhy it matters
North Growth Lab rubricSEO structure, conversion paths, trust signals, response foundations and accessibility essentialsApplies one transparent commercial baseline to every submitted public page
Google LighthouseA rendered mobile lab test covering performance, SEO, accessibility and best practicesTests the loaded experience instead of relying only on the initial HTML
Chrome UX ReportAvailable 75th-percentile LCP, INP, CLS and TTFB observations from real Chrome usersAdds field evidence when the URL or origin has enough eligible traffic

The Growth Path Map turns findings into a customer-journey diagnosis.

Our new proprietary layer maps visible signals into four stages: Discovery, Clarity, Confidence and Action. The lowest stage becomes the first hypothesis to verify. This does not pretend that markup can read a customer's mind. It gives the team a practical sequence for reviewing the actual page.

StageQuestionExample next review
DiscoveryCan qualified visitors and search engines find and identify the page?Search snippet, indexability, canonical and primary heading
ClarityCan a visitor quickly understand the offer and intended next step?Promise, audience cue, hierarchy and call to action
ConfidenceIs there enough visible evidence to trust the business?Specific proof, accountability, contact details and risk reduction
ActionCan an interested visitor complete a clear next step?Form, booking or contact path and unnecessary submission friction

The scan remains immediate and does not require an account.

Enter a public URL on the North Growth Lab homepage or scanner page. The diagnosis starts automatically, shows the category breakdown, identifies the weakest growth-path stage and adds Google measurements when available. The complete report can still be downloaded or printed without supplying an email address.

The scanner asks for the destination email before it starts. The result appears on screen and the full diagnosis is delivered automatically. North Growth Lab receives an operational notice containing the email, website and score so the requested delivery is traceable. Marketing follow-up remains a separate optional checkbox. The result can also open in the NGL Website Scan iPhone build.

These follow-up paths do not change the score or hide the diagnosis. The scanner is designed to create a useful baseline before a redesign, campaign or conversion experiment—not to manufacture urgency through a paywall.

  • One public page per scan.
  • Immediate on-screen results.
  • Downloadable report without registration.
  • Optional full-report delivery by email after the score is shown.
  • Optional handoff to the Free Website Scan iPhone build.
  • Consistent rubric rather than a manually adjusted sales score.
  • Optional implementation conversation after the evidence is visible.

What the scanner deliberately does not claim.

No automated scan can prove product-market fit, lead quality, legal compliance, security or future rankings. It cannot see private analytics, CRM outcomes or the conversations happening after a form submission. A high automated score can coexist with weak positioning, and a technically imperfect page can still generate demand.

Use the result as a dated hypothesis. Confirm the issue on the real customer path, change one coherent system, rescan the same URL and compare business measurements over an appropriate period. The score is useful when the website becomes clearer, faster, easier to trust or easier to act on—not when a team merely learns to satisfy a checklist.

Frequently asked questions.

Is the Website Growth Scan free?

Yes. You can scan one public page, view the results and download the report without creating an account. Sending the diagnosis to your email or requesting a human review is optional.

Can I keep the scan result?

Yes. Download or print the diagnosis without registration, send the full report to your email after the result is visible, or open the scanned website in the Free Website Scan iPhone build.

Why might a report have no CrUX data?

Chrome UX Report requires sufficient eligible real-user traffic for the submitted URL or origin. Lighthouse and the North Growth Lab checks can still run when field data is unavailable.

Does a higher score guarantee more leads?

No. The report identifies visible technical and commercial hypotheses. Offer strength, demand, traffic quality, sales follow-up and customer context still determine business outcomes.
